Awake’s Network Traffic Analysis Platform Wins Government Award

Best IT Threat Intelligence Solution

Our Awake team members should be incredibly proud of the award-worthy year their work has resulted for our company. Their dedication and ingenuity to creating an advanced network traffic analysis solution that consistently outperforms the competition and keeps our customers ahead of quickly evolving cyber threats has received yet additional accolades. This time, we are honored to be recognized as a Platinum Best IT Threat Intelligence Solution in the ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards program, which is an annual program organized by American Security Today to recognize the most distinguished vendors of physical, IT, port security, law enforcement, and first responders.

Our Awake Security Platform is used by customers across a wide variety of industries, but this award recognizes our team’s part in helping government organizations to defend themselves against debilitating cyberattacks. These organizations are particularly susceptible to threats since much of their critical infrastructure – which include emergency 9-1-1 switchboards, water utilities for entire municipalities, and more – run on aging systems that are often left unpatched and vulnerable to threats from nation-states, hacktivists, financial crime actors, and drive-by attackers. All these systems cannot adequately be protected by endpoint agents since they are often too fragile for the installation process, the underlying OS running these systems doesn’t support agents, or are simply beyond the control of the organization.

Additionally, a majority of breaches are now the result of non-malware-based threats. Attackers use tools that already exist within the environment, abuse insider credentials, or use sites like Twitter and Google Drive for command and control. This means that security teams must now detect malicious intent that blends with business-justified activity, a task that is both tedious and challenging for most analysts, but especially hard for government security teams that lack the tools and manpower necessary to prevent such sophisticated attacks. Our Awake Security Platform won this year’s award because of its ability to help government security teams tackle these challenges head-on.

Our network traffic analysis solution deeply analyzes billions of network communications to autonomously discover, profile, and classify every device, user, and application across traditional, IoT, and cloud networks. Using a multi-dimensional machine learning approach, the platform then models complex adversarial behaviors and connects the dots across entities, time, protocols, and attack stage. This approach, which delivers threat detections with low false positives and negatives, enables government security teams of all skill levels and resources to keep their mission-critical infrastructure secure from today’s cyber threats.
